Welcome to the Salt Marsh Museum, located in the village of Batz‑sur‑Mer. The museum invites you to discover the history, culture and traditional know‑how of salt‑making on the Guérande Peninsula, a landscape shaped by humans for more than a thousand years.

Throughout your visit, you can use our visitor guides, available in English, German, Spanish and Italian, to better understand the heritage of the salt marshes, the work of the salt workers and the evolution of this unique environment.

Our printed leaflet is also available in English, and the museum’s website includes a language module that allows you to browse key information in several languages.

We hope you enjoy your visit and the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Guérande salt marshes.
